Add these nutrients to your diet for healthier looking skin and hair.

Maintaining a menu plan consisting of Whole Real nutrient-rich foods is the foundation that can contribute to healthy looking skin, hair and nails, allowing the products we use to enhance and work more effectively.  Enriching our diets by consuming foods rich in protein, antioxidants and vitamins A, B Complex, C, E and K will enhance the look and feel of our skin.  These vitamins help maintain and repair skin as well as add shine and luster to hair. Vitamin A (controls wrinkles):  Sweet potatoes, carrots and dark green leafy vegetables Vitamin B Complex: Oatmeal, eggs, bananas Vitamin C (collagen production; reduces wrinkles):  Citrus fruits, dark green leafy vegetables Vitamin E (removes scars, lustrous hair, soft skin): Spinach, nuts, olives Vitamin K (reduces wrinkles):  Dark green leafy vegetables Collagen - a protein - helps keep our skin strong and supple.  As we get older our collagen decreases resulting in the development of wrinkles and thinner, weaker skin.  Consuming healthy proteins, as well as vegetables and fruits high in antioxidants, will contribute to reducing the signs of aging.  Cutting back on sugar is a very important detail we all seem to miss.  Sugar breaks down healthy tissue and interferes with the body’s ability to produce new collagen, leaving our skin thinner and weaker.  So, if there’s a need to have that yummy dessert, I say choose to indulge sparingly.  Omega 3 fatty acids enhance complexion.  Salmon, rich in Omegas, also contains astaxanthin - a carotenoid - which improves the skin’s elasticity. Avocados are high in Niacin (B3), containing anti-inflammatory properties and soothes irritated skin.  It is also good for hydration of the skin, hair and nails.  Consume and / or apply topically. Mangoes are high in Vitamin A and have been known as an excellent “Face Food”.  Consume and / or apply topically. Legumes - beans - are an excellent source of protein, iron, zinc and biotin. Hydrate.  Adding a mixture of these foods 2 to 3 times a day, along with drinking at least ½ gallon of water a day to keep the inner  body and skin hydrated, following an active lifestyle, and learning to love ourselves from the inside out will definitely contribute to feeling and looking younger and living a life full of vitality.

Sending you lots of Love and Light.
